MINDFULNESS AND WELLBEING

At Hypha, we prioritize the holistic wellbeing of every child, recognizing that a healthy mind and body are essential for academic success and personal growth.

The neural pathways and connections formed during the first 5 years of life set the stage for the rest of your child’s life. Neuroscience research indicate that early promotion of wellbeing and social-emotional practices will be more efficient and produce more favorable outcomes than remediation later in life.

Additionally, emotional well-being and social competence provide a strong foundation for emerging cognitive abilities, and together they are the bricks and mortar that comprise the foundation of human development.

It is vital for us at Hypha to nurture intrinsic motivation, emotional regulation, problem-solving, healthy relationships, and strong self-esteem.

We integrate practices that connect mind, body, and heart, such as gratitude practices, pebble meditation, growth mindset, social-emotional learning, free self-expression through the arts, and physical movement. Our facilities and approach to learning are designed with the wellbeing of children in mind.

Conscious Discipline

Our educators are highly trained in conscious discipline to deliver a nurturing, home-like, and loving environment, modeling constructive ways to relate in a community.

At Hypha, we focus on collaborative approaches with the child to problem-solve and address the root cause of any challenging behavior, not merely on modifying the behavior. In our school we use non-punitive methods of conflict resolution and honor the right of all children to feel safe.

Our end goal is to develop emotionally balanced individuals who are ready to thrive in life.

Mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning

All learners at Hypha practice mindfulness activities at least once a day and spend dedicated time learning about social emotional topics. These social emotional topics are also integrated throughout the school day.

These activities help:

  • Develop skills and attitudes necessary to interact effectively with others, to contribute positively to modern society.
  • Exploring beliefs and values to understand oneself, others, and our place in the world.
  • Understand, respect, and celebrate diversity.
  • Develop a growth mindset for an “I can do” and resilient attitude.
  • Gain skills to learn more effectively and develop a lifelong love of learning.

The end goal is to develop emotionally balanced individuals who are ready to thrive in life.
